Who are ACT Collective?

ACT Collective is a community creative arts organisation built around a simple belief: Everyone deserves the opportunity to be creative.

We create high-quality, accessible arts experiences where people can explore, play, learn, perform, experiment and express themselves. We are not about one art form, one type of person or one definition of creativity.

ACT brings together drama, theatre, dance, singing, writing, performance and other creative practices, giving people opportunities to discover what excites them, develop their skills and find their own creative voice.

Whether someone is stepping into a creative space for the first time or looking to develop an existing passion, there is a place for them at ACT.

Why ACT?

More than an arts class. ACT Collective is different because we are not built around a single creative discipline. We are a collective of creative experiences, practitioners, ideas and people.

Our programmes might involve theatre one week, movement the next, writing, singing, performance, storytelling or something completely unexpected. What connects everything we do is our approach.

We combine:

  • high-quality creative practice

  • learning and skill development

  • curiosity and experimentation

  • community and collaboration

  • play and joy

We want people to leave ACT having developed creative skills. But we also want them to leave with something bigger: more confidence, more curiosity, more connection and a stronger belief in the value of their own ideas.

Our Belief

Everyone has a voice worth hearing. The arts give us ways to explore who we are, communicate what matters to us and connect with other people.

Through creativity, people can discover new ideas, new skills and sometimes new parts of themselves.

ACT creates spaces where people are encouraged to:

EXPLORE → PLAY → CREATE → LEARN → SHARE → GROW

There is room to experiment. Room to get things wrong. Room to try again.

Room to be serious about developing skills without taking ourselves too seriously. And room to be completely yourself.

Our Purpose

Creativity helps people thrive. It is not an optional extra.

It helps us communicate, connect, understand ourselves, build confidence, develop resilience and experience joy. Yet access to high-quality creative opportunities can be limited by cost, geography, confidence, previous experience or simply not knowing where to begin.

ACT Collective exists to change that.

We create affordable, welcoming and high-quality opportunities for people to experience the arts within their own community.

Because everyone should have the chance to discover what creativity can do for them.

Our Values

  • FUN

    Creativity should contain joy.

We believe play is fundamental to learning, connection and life. Our spaces give people permission to experiment, laugh, take creative risks and enjoy themselves.

We take the quality of our work seriously.

We don't believe that means everything else has to be serious.

  • AUTHENTIC

We encourage people to show up as themselves.

There is no single right way to be creative and no ACT version of the person you are supposed to become.

We value honesty, individuality and genuine creative expression.

  • PASSIONATE

We care deeply about creativity and the difference it can make.

Our enthusiasm should be visible in the quality of our programmes, the people delivering them and the experiences we create.

We want passion to be contagious.

  • SAFE

People need to feel safe enough to take risks.

    Especially creative risks.

We create supportive environments where people can try, fail, learn, contribute and express themselves without fear of judgement.

  • CURIOUS

Curiosity sits at the heart of creativity.

We encourage people to question, experiment, discover new art forms, explore different ideas and remain open to possibilities.
